Yvonne O’Connell: Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking

Yvonne attended several Art Schools in the UK gaining a Bachelor of Fine Art at Newcastle Upon Tyne Polytechnic in 1980. She later worked as an art educator, teaching students, and adults alike. This not only fuelled her enduring passion for art and education but also led to a fulfilling career lasting more than 38 years.

Yvonne is a local artist who creates a variety of artwork based on a response to what she observes in the world around her. Her subject matter is broad and includes portraits, figure drawing, still life, animals, trees, and landscapes. She primarily paints from direct observation, occasionally using support drawings and photographs back in her studio.

She uses a range of media; including pencil, graphite, charcoal, soft pastel, acrylic and oil paint, lino printing, cyanotype various forms of mono print and collage, she also explores combinations of media to further refine her practice.

Yvonne’s Studio is available as part of Macedon Open Studios and at other times by appointment.
