Elizabeth has always had a passion for textiles, particularly “the feel” and manufacture.
Whilst working in the commercial textile industry forty years ago, her husband gave her the first spinning wheel (of many) and she was hooked.
Whilst understanding the technical nature of spinning, Elizabeth chooses to be an intuitive rather than technical spinner.
To sit with soft fibre in her hands, with the expectation of feeding twist into it as spinners have done for centuries, is very exciting for Elizabeth, who likes to spin and make small accessories for children and adults following her own designs. Using natural or colourful hand dyed wool, alpaca and silk tops, she believes the art of knitting and crochet is about fabrication for a purpose.
Elizabeth holds a Certificate in Textiles and Testing, and Teacher Certificates from the Craft Yarn Council of America.
