About

The Gallery Mt Macedon can be found in the small village of Mt Macedon high on the southern slopes of the mountain.

It is situated behind the church, down the laneway alongside The Trading Post Cafe.

Within the picturesque setting of tall gums and established gardens of the mount, The Gallery is a perfect place to visit, spending a little time exploring the wonderful art from the Macedon Ranges.

The Gallery has been a feature in the region for twenty years and continues to provide a fantastic range of exhibitions from, not only the gallery collective members, but a host of visiting artists who display their works on a monthly basis in the Focus Room exhibition space.

The collective artists of TGMM are all locals and demonstrate a vast array of skills and media types in their works. One of them is on duty each day.

Close by are places to pick up a tasty lunch including The Trading Post out front.

And for garden lovers, just next door is Stephan Ryan’s, Dicksonia rare plants nursery.

Focus Room Exhibitions

The Gallery provides a fantastic range of monthly changing exhibitions in their year long calendar.

Often one or more members will showcase a deeper exploration of their interests in a series collection, and very often, Visiting Artists bring different skills and techniques with their body of work on display temporarily.

 July Focus Room Exhibition

Amongst the Trees

Macedon based artist and member of The Gallery, Yvonne O’Connell,  invites you to her exhibition in the focus room at The Gallery Mt Macedon from Tuesday July 7 to  Sunday August 2, 2026.

Yvonne says:

“During my travels last year to various European destinations, I was inspired by the majesty of the broad leaf trees in summer.  I was entranced by the dappled sunlight dancing and creating patterns on woodland floors as well as admiring the gnarled and knobbly textures of the ancient oaks.”

She was deeply saddened by the felling of the Sycamore Gap Tree in Northumbria. On her return to Australia, Yvonne turned her attention to the beauty of our Australian trees realising they were equally  impressive. There began her obsession for trees!

Yvonne’s work aims to capture the essence of those observations through various mark making techniques using charcoal and acrylic paint, exploring  a whole range of possibilities when she  works. Yvonne claims she doesn’t  visualise an end result rather she takes an explorative journey; constantly reflecting and adjusting her processes.

Yvonne hopes viewers to her exhibition will take a moment to pause and appreciate the grandeur of our natural world and the complex beauty of Australian trees because they are fundamentally important to the future of our planet as well as our own physical and mental well-being.

You are invited to attend the Opening on Saturday 11 July at 2.00pm.

August Focus Room Exhibition

Art to Wear in The Gallery Meets The Makers

Each July, for over sixteen years, members and invited makers had their creations modelled to a welcome audience at Jubilee Hall in Macedon, which came alive with fabrics, textures, jewellery and music in this much anticipated showcase of wearable art at its best. Following the parade, the garments were on display back at The Gallery for a month.

This year, 10 textile artists will feature unique garments, hats, scarves and more during the month of August.

Join us in the Gallery on Saturday August 8 and 15 from 1-4pm and meet some of the makers while enjoying afternoon tea. Free entry.
