Cathy’s ceramic work is influenced by a special interest in decoration, most particularly pattern and mark making.
Simple functional forms are decorated with patterns, and often animal imagery which includes cats and dogs. These creatures have a special ability to work their way into our lives.
In recent years Cathy has been enjoying the use of decoration on wearable ceramics. These pieces have a ‘one off’ quality and always show some evidence of the hand of the maker.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art, majoring her studies in ceramics, Cathy currently works from a home studio in Sunbury. She also enjoys mixing with like-minded potters at the local Boilerhouse Community Arts Centre. Cathy is also a member of Macedon Ranges Potters and the Buttlejorrk group of artists.
