PORTRAITS ON THE MOUNT PORTRAIT PRIZE 2022

Portraits on the Mount Portrait Prize is an exhibition hosted by The Gallery Mt Macedon that celebrates the humanity and spirit of portraiture.

The invitation is open to all Macedon Ranges Shire residents to explore ideas of portraiture in any medium, materials or forms but must be 2D and A3 size, maximum 30cm x 40cm (includes frame if applicable) and is a person known to the artist, or a self portrait.

There will be four prizes awarded – Major prize $1000 Peoples’ Choice $500 Youth 12-16 $100 Child 8-11 $50. An independent panel of judges will select winners.

This is a unique opportunity to showcase the portraits at The Gallery (and elsewhere if decided) during the Autumn Festival in April 2022.

Key dates:

Exhibition Dates: April 4- April 30 2022

Applications open: February 15, 2022

Applications close: March 15 (entry form and image online submission)

Work to be delivered to The Gallery: Sunday April 3, 3-5pm

Official opening and prizes announced: Saturday April 9, 2-4pm

People’s choice award announced: Saturday April 30

Collect unsold and purchased exhibits: Sunday May 1: 2-4pm

Terms and Conditions

Due to space restrictions, we can only accept one entry per artist

Maximum size, A3, including frame. Work to be suitably framed, with wires and screws.  Unframed canvasses are acceptable. Place a label on the back with name, title, address, category and price or NFS. This applies to both adult and junior entries.

Digital works and photographs not accepted

Subject must be known to artist, and agree to be a subject for this exhibition, or a self portrait.

All works must be original and owned by the artist

Entry fee: Adult section: $20, 16 and under: no entry fee.

Work may be offered for sale at discretion of artist

Judges’ decision is final and not subject to review or appeal

Entrants agree to allow their work to be shown in the media

The Gallery Mount Macedon will take all reasonable care with art work, but will not be responsible for loss, theft or damage to artwork or frame while in our possession.
