Bruce Goodchild: Painter

I paint landscapes and was first instructed by my grandmother who was an accomplished oil painter. I have always enjoyed art but a busy career and family slowed development. Picked up the brush recently and found a real passion.

I have lived in the Macedon Ranges for 15 years and love the area which provides so much inspiration for painting. Opportunities to travel to Italy, Tasmania and New Zealand have provided much material for me to work with and I have been influenced by the impressionist works of Monet and John Russell, Japanese wood block prints and the work of Phillip Wolfhagen.

I divide my time between the Macedon Ranges and Italy and am still finding my style working mainly with acrylics and experimenting happily. I have recently enjoyed doing portraits and intend to explore that further. A member of the NGV in Melbourne and a participant in art courses both in Australia and Italy, I am on my way.
